Candy Colored Maille

I was in Michael’s the other day picking up some last minute things for some etsy orders when I stumbled upon the new colored jump rings and jump ring making supplies they are offering. There s also a new line of jewelry making supplies called chain maille that include two different sized jump rings to make different patterns of chan maille. In an earlier post I talked about wanting to make some chain maille accessories but when I went to Michaels they didn’t have these supplies yet so upon my discovery I was super excited!

I ended up purchasing the pre-made jump rings just to see how difficult the chain maille would be and what I could accomplish before making an investment. I realized after purchasing a muti-color pack of one size large jump rings that to make most chain maille you need two sizes of rings. So when making my piece I stuck with a traditional European pattern I found on this site. Their site is really easy to navigate and has visuals for everything, it’s great. Here’s the piece I made.

I only made it three rows wide because of the number of jump rings included in the pack but I love the way it turned out. It looks really good on because of the size of the rings.

If you don’t want to make your own and would rather purchase it you can find the listing in my etsy shop here.
